Bagel Day

Today in class we had bagels. They were so good, mine was cinnamon. Besisdes the bagels and cookie we continued to watch the moive. We are close to the end and I feel like I have learned aa lot about Sudan and what it is like to live there. During the movie we got to see how they boys were doing after living in the US for 1 year. It seems like they were doing great. All of them are going to school and have good jobs. Panther is even working in a nice resturant. When you look back to the beginnig of the movie, you can see how much they have come. I feel so excited for them and that they now have independence. All of them wanted to help their country and you can see at the end of the movie that they are on thier way to doing that. Finally, John got to reunite with his mother. It must feel so good to finally see your mother after several years. You can also see how he had made a big impact on showing people how bad it is in Sudan. He wants to show poeple that there is war in Sudan and all his fellow friends are in a bad place. I feel like the movie has shown me that I should be alot more appriciated of what I have. I hope they can all help the people back in thier country.

Today's Class 12-9-09

In class today we continued to watch the movie. So far I really like the movie. I feel very sad for all the boys and what they had to go through. I feel happy that they are here in America to have a better oppurtunity. Its hard to believe that they do not know how to use basic essentials in a house. It seems funny when I see them eating butter and thinking everyting in the kitchen is green. I seems funny seeing them not know anything about things that we use on a daily basis. I cannnot image what they went through, and not that they are here, it is a big change for them. Watching the movie makes me want to go and help them and teach them things to make life easier for them. I feel bad for the boys because they do not know anything about the US and it is very hard to adjust to the new setting. I am excited to see the rest of the movie.

• Once they leave they cannot go back because they will be killed

• Kids didn’t find their parents
• Lacked food, water, shelter
• They drank each others urine for something to drink
• The ate the mud
• They went to Ethiopia
• Made a village, then fled after 3 yrs to Kenya
• Kukuma- the refuges come here
• 12,000 boys came to Kenya, there numbers had been reduced
• Black Days are the days where there are no more food and they all gather together
• The organization provided food, shelter, clothing, and education
• They have never had bed, electricity, or showers
• The group is called the lost boys

Africa Test

On Friday we took a 10 question quiz on Africa. I was kind of worried that I would do bad, because we did not talk about Africa at all before the quiz. Then, when we reviewed I felt a little bit better. The night before I went through the pages we were supposed to read and make notes. I studied my notes and felt like I had a good chance. When we took the quiz I realized that pretty much all the questions I took notes on. I was glad I took notes and thought of a good way to study. I took the quiz and when we went over it I only got one wrong. I was proud of myself that a got a good grade not knowing a lot about Africa.

Africa

Today in class we colored a map of Africa. We had to color the different countries and label them. In the map we also had to label the rivers, land areas, etc. I had fun coloring all the different countries wit different colors. I am excited to learn about Africa, because I feel like it is a really interesting to learn about. Also, last year I had to do a project on a country in Africa. I picked the country Ghana. I got a good grade and learned alot. Unfortunately, I do not remember a lot about the information or the actual information. I am excited to learn about Africa's culture, language, and history. Hopefully, I will do good on the quiz.

12-2-09

Again in class today we still worked on our paper. We got a little bit more done. Ally started to write the introductory paragraph. I am excited to get the paper over with and get a good grade. I tried to finish taking notes, but I could not find any good websites for information. I think that we have good topics for the paper, but we hate doing the research and writing papers. Other than writing the first paragraph and finding research, I wanted to fall asleep. I was so tired. Ally and I are ready to have this paper over with.

A Good Class

Today in class Ally and I worked on our research paper. We picked the 2016 Olympics to do our paper on. We made our outline and figured out what we were going to talk about and put in the paper. We decided to do a little background information. Also, we decided we were going to put what sports were in the Olympics, why Rio De Janerio was picked to hold the Olympics, what are the Olympics, and our opinion about the Olympics. We have many things that we want to put in the paper. In class we got a lot of good information. Since we have good subjects, we have good quality of information. today we got information on the tradition and history, and all the different sports. I think that we will finish with a good paper.
